A Unique Location in front of the Atlantic
This beach front hotel in Chiclana de la Frontera is located in the exclusive Novo Sancti Petri; a residential complex with a unique location 200 metres from La Barrosa beach, one of the most outstanding sandy beaches in the province of Cádiz thanks to the quality of its water and its varied services.
La Barrosa is a safe beach of fine golden sand, with shallow bottoms and moderate waves, which extends from Loma del Puerco - on the edge of Conil - to the cliffs of Sancti Petri. With 8 kilometres long and 100 metres wide, it is divided into three areas, with the first being the closest to Conil and characterised by wilder and more rugged orography.
There is a second area in front of the hotel with several beach bars —here, tranquillity reigns throughout the year. The third and last area is more urbanised and runs parallel to the promenade, which is filled with bars and restaurants.
Right next to the hotel is Sancti Petri, an old, charming fishing village that has recently become a highly coveted tourist destination in Andalusia. The odd name of this ancient Phoenician settlement means, in Latin, "of St. Peter", patron saint of fishermen. For several decades, Sancti Petri was characterised by its intense fishing activity focused on the art of almadraba , a sustainable fishing technique that is also an ancient ritual deeply rooted in the culture and tradition of Cádiz.
Today, the now-abandoned fishermen's houses show on their walls the scenes that some artists painted in homage to the town's seafaring past. Presiding over the landscape we contemplate the mesmerising Castle of Sancti Petri, a fortress built between the 16th and the 17th centuries on a small islet, historically linked to one of the most important and famous temples of Antiquity: the Temple of Hercules-Melqart. In its surroundings we find the Sancti Petri marshes, a wetland of great ecological and environmental value that extends for 170 hectares within the Bahía de Cádiz Natural Park.
